A letter to Young Democrats

I want every chapter to see the ground it stands on.

Hi, I’m Dan. I’m a data person from Oklahoma. I have spent years driving county to county, collecting precinct maps from local election boards that nobody ever digitized, and turning them into tools organizers can actually use. People know me as the one who maps elections down to the precinct.

I’m running for Executive Vice President of the Young Democrats of America because of what I kept seeing on those drives. The chapters doing the hardest work, in red states and rural counties, have the least support and the least information. That’s backwards, and it’s fixable.

Organizing is a craft. A party that only contests safe seats loses the next generation. YDA should be organizing everywhere, and the people doing that work deserve real tools, not leftovers.

Data is an asset, not a luxury. Turnout targets, precinct maps, and voter analysis shouldn’t belong only to the biggest states. As YDA’s volunteer Chief Data Officer, I’ve been building these tools for this cycle. As EVP, I’d put them in every chapter’s hands.

Community outlasts any cycle. Institutions outlive candidates. I want to leave YDA with the systems, the training, and the people to keep the next generation of leaders strong long after this race is over.

The maps live here. Interactive precinct maps you can explore will sit on this page, the same ones I build for organizers today.

If any of this sounds like the YDA you want, I’d love to talk. Write me, argue with me, or ask me for a map of your own turf. That’s usually how these conversations start.

Dan
